For me, the computer is a creative tool. At its best, it is an effortless instrument for art and design. That's why so many digital media professionals work with a Mac. The Mac is not perfect, but it is the ideal computer for visual people like me.
Why Mac? Here are some reasons . . .
1. Macs are easy. Mac owners don't have to be hardware experts. The Mac comes fully configured. All the parts are controlled by Apple so they are designed to work together harmoniously.
2. Macs are safer. They are not prone to PC viruses and operating system security holes.
3. Macs are intuitive. The interface is easy to navigate and allows users to focus on the task at hand rather than the computer itself. That is why most schools, writers, artists, designers and scientists have made the Mac their platform of choice.
4. Macs are flexible. If you need to use a Windows application you can use Boot Camp which comes with every new Mac. You can install Windows and run it natively - as if your Mac were a PC.
5. Macs play nicely. A new Mac comes pre-installed with hundreds of drivers for peripherals. Just connect your device and, in most cases, you are good to go. A Mac connects to your digital camera, wireless device, or external drive and it just works. Really.
